That heart-shaped blue sky 🩵 through Cherry Blossoms 🌸 in Gyeongju, South Korea, on one fine Spring day at beginning of April, 2025 (above).
Gyeongju is the last capital of the Korean kingdom of Silla (신라, 新羅) which lasted over thousand years from 1 BC. Naturally, this city has full of historic gems in every corner of the city connecting stories and regions from the easternmost edge of continent to the West.
Here, the topic of my interest is only Cherry Blossoms.
No word necessary — I will flood your screen, heart, and mind with fluffy pinky-white double-layered Cherry Blossoms. 🌸🌸🌸
“Double (or layered) Cherry Blossom” is also called “double flowering Cherry” due to its enchanting, large, and thick Cherry flowers.
The following short video below is from the City of Gyeongju which highlights and recommends some of famous Cherry Blossom spots. In fact, almost entire city is full of pinky-white double-layered Cherry Blossoms in its season. 🌸🌸🌸
Followings are some more Cherry Blossoms from Jinhae in Changwon City, South Korea. Jinhae is famous for its Cherry Blossoms festival, and many films and TV series have been taken with this background of Cherry Blossom over the tiny river. 🌸🌸🌸
Unusually cold local weather sometimes in Spring 2025 caused Cherry Blossom only halfway towards its brief full bloom, which typically lasts only for about a week, when these photos were taken in Jinhae. It was challenging to predict and catch the peak blossom time, but its authentic beauty remained intact.
